- قرآنِ کریم · 2:155-157وَلَنَبۡلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيۡءٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡخَوۡفِ وَٱلۡجُوعِ وَنَقۡصٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ وَٱلۡأَنفُسِ وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ ١٥٥ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتۡهُم مُّصِيبَةٞ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيۡهِ رَٰجِعُونَ ١٥٦ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَلَوَٰتٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَرَحۡمَةٞۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدُونَ ١٥٧اور ہم ضرور تمہیں آزمائیں گے خوف و خطر، اور کچھ بھوک (و پیاس) اور کچھ مالوں، جانوں اور پھلوں کے نقصان کے ساتھ (یعنی ان میں سے کسی نہ کسی چیز کے ساتھ)۔ (اے رسول(ص)) خوشخبری دے دو ان صبر کرنے والوں کو۔ کہ جب بھی ان پر کوئی مصیبت آپڑے تو وہ کہتے ہیں بے شک ہم صرف اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں۔ اور اسی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانے والے ہیں۔ یہی وہ (خوش نصیب) ہیں، جن پر ان کے پروردگار کی طرف سے درود (خاص عنایتیں اور نوازشیں) ہیں اور رحمت و مہربانی ہے۔ اور یہی لوگ ہدایت یافتہ ہیں۔
- قرآنِ کریم · 2:153يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱسۡتَعِينُواْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ ١٥٣اے ایمان والو! (مصیبت کے وقت) صبر اور نماز (کے ذریعے خدا) سے مدد لیا کرو۔ بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔
- قرآنِ کریم · 39:10قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمۡۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ فِي هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةٞۗ وَأَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجۡرَهُم بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٖ ١٠کہہ دیجئے! اے میرے وہ بندو جو ایمان لائے ہو! اپنے پروردگار (کی نافرمانی) سے ڈرو۔ (اور یاد رکھو) جو لوگ اس دنیا میں نیک عمل کرتے ہیں ان کیلئے (آخرت میں) نیک صلہ ہے اور اللہ کی زمین وسیع (کشادہ) ہے بے شک صبر کرنے والوں کو ان کا اجر بے حساب دیا جائے گا۔

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Sinan and Ali ibn al-Nu’man from ‘Ammar ibn Marwan from Zayd al-Shahham from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “How wonderful indeed is the drop of anger for one who curbs it with exercising patience! Great rewards are for those who go through great trials and tribulations. Allah has not loved any people without exposing them to trials and tribulations.”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib’i ibn ‘Abdillah from Fudayl ibn Yasar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “Patience holds the same position in faith as the head does in the body. When the head is lost, the body perishes. Similarly, when patience is lost, faith perishes.”
- حدیث · Sahih al-Bukhari 1283 · SahihNarrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a woman who was weeping beside a grave. He told her to fear Allah and be patient. She said to him, "Go away, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like mine." And she did not recognize him. Then she was informed that he was the Prophet (ﷺ) . so she went to the house of the Prophet (ﷺ) and there she did not find any guard. Then she said to him, "I did not recognize you." He said, "Verily, the patience is at the first stroke of a calamity
- حدیث · Kitab al-Mu'min, no. 33. It has been narrated that al-Sadiq (a.s) said “If a believer knew what reward lies for him in suffering tribulations, he would wish he could be cut into pieces with a scissor.”
- حدیث · Kitab al-Mu'min, no. 99. It has been narrated that Abu 'Abd Allah (a.s) said: Out of what Allah revealed to Musa (Prophet Moses) (a.s) is the following: O Musa! I have not created a creation more beloved to Me than My believing servant. For verily I try him with what is good for him, I bestow on him what is good for him and I remove from him what is good for him. For I know better what is more proper for My servant. Therefore, let him be patient over My trials, be pleased with My decrees and give thanks for My blessings. I shall record him amongst the truthful ones with Me when he acts according to My pleasure and obeys My command.
